Center for Youth Dialogue (CYD) was officially registered on 8th September 2014 with registration number 2309 under Zanzibar’s Societies Act Number 6 of 1995. In August 2019, CYD was assigned new registration number Z0000040603.
The vision of CYD is a peaceful and prosperous society where all people, especially youth, hold the power to create and have access to socio-economic opportunities, and healthy environments.
The mission of CYD is to promote peace, security, and social cohesion, advancing good governance and human rights, empower youth and women economically, and promote climate governance.

Since its establishment CYD has been welcoming local and international students to engage with our activities through internship and volunteering opportunities. Students from State University of Zanzibar (SUZA), University of Dodoma (UDOM), Zanzibar University (ZU), University of Dar es Salaam (UDSM), Mwalimu Nyerere Memorial Academy and local vocational schools in Zanzibar as well as international students from George Washington University (USA), London Metropolitan University (UK), St. Lawrence University (USA), Adelphi University (USA) Babson College (USA) and University of Cooperative Education Breitenbrunn (Germany) has also been offered internship opportunities at CYD. Currently, three students from Tengeru Institute of Community Development are undertaking their internship course at CYD.
From May 2020 to-date, CYD in collaboration with other 19 NGOs is leading implementation of the Mwanamke na Amani project. Being implemented in 6 districts of Tanzania.
Overall objective of the Uraia Wetu project is to contribute to an improved and enabling policy framework and environments for effective CSOs engagement as key actors of democratic governance in Zanzibar.
